I know how these ceremonies run

City hall ceremonies are short and run on a tight schedule, so I do the planning before your date. I check the photography rules with your venue and pick a route for the portraits after. You'll get a simple timeline ahead of time. On the day, you just get married.

I've photographed weddings since 2014, in Miami and across the US. Short ceremonies are where that experience shows: I work fast and quiet, and I stay out of the officiant's way. I'm new to Amsterdam's wedding scene, so my calendar is open and you'll have my full attention.

Marrying on a weekday morning?

Amsterdam has free and reduced-fee civil ceremony slots on certain weekdays. That's why so many couples marry at the stadhuis midweek. Those slots book up months ahead. But a free ceremony leaves more budget for the photos, and the photos are what you'll still have in thirty years. Weekday dates are usually open for me, since my weekends go to full weddings.

I'm an American wedding photographer, and Amsterdam is home now. I shot weddings in Miami and across the US for twelve years, and I've run my own studio since 2019. These days I photograph couples getting married right here.

Questions

Can you photograph inside the ceremony room?: Almost always. Every stadhuis has its own rules about where a photographer can stand and whether flash is allowed. I check those rules with your venue before the day, so you don't have to.
Our ceremony slot is only twenty or thirty minutes. Is three hours too much?: No. The ceremony is actually the shortest part of the day. Three hours also covers your arrival, the congratulations outside, and a slow portrait walk along the canals. That walk is usually where the best photos happen.
We are marrying in Haarlem, Utrecht, or Den Haag. Do you cover those?: Yes. I live in Amsterdam, and anywhere in the Randstad is an easy trip. Just mention your city when you write and I'll confirm.
How many photographs do we receive?: Every good photo from the day, fully edited. They come in an online gallery you can download and print from. You'll see a preview within 48 hours and the full gallery in under two weeks.
Where do couples usually go for portraits after?: Usually the canals near your stadhuis. I'll suggest a route before your day, based on where you're marrying and when the light is good. If a spot is crowded on the day, we just keep walking.
