The Day
How a city hall wedding day flows
- 01Before
I meet you before the ceremony: the arrival, the nerves, the people gathering outside.
- 02The Ceremony
City hall ceremonies are short and real. I cover the vows, the rings, and the signatures without ever getting in the way.
- 03The City
Then we walk. Amsterdam does the rest: canals, bridges, doorways, light. This is where most of your portraits happen.
- 04The Celebration
The first drinks or lunch with your people, covered until the three hours are spent.
Questions
- How long does a civil ceremony at the Amsterdam city hall take?
- The ceremony itself is usually 15 to 30 minutes depending on the format you book with the municipality. Three hours of coverage leaves room for arrivals, the ceremony, a long portrait walk, and the first drinks after.
- Do you photograph ceremonies at other venues in Amsterdam?
- Yes. The city marries couples at the Stadsloket locations and at a long list of approved venues, from canal houses to museums, and this coverage works the same at any of them.
- What if we need more or less than three hours?
- Then we talk. Every civil ceremony is welcome here, and a short consultation call is worth it whatever the size of the day: we can add hours, trim the shape, or move you to a full-day collection if that fits better. Tell me what you're planning and I'll recommend honestly.
- Why weekdays only?
- Weekends are held for full wedding commissions, so this package is reserved for Monday through Friday ceremonies. Amsterdam's weekday slots are also easier to book and often more affordable with the municipality, so it tends to work in your favor.
- We're coming from abroad to marry in Amsterdam. Can you help us plan the photos?
- Yes. I live here. Before the day we'll talk through the timing of your ceremony slot, where the light will be, and a portrait route that fits the season, so nothing is left to chance on the day itself.
